WHAT:DIESEL’S ARTISTIC DIRECTOR NICOLA FORMICHETTI DRESSES BEYONCE AND HER DANCERS IN CUSTOM LOOKS FOR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ON THE RUN TOUR WITH RAPPER AND HUSBAND JAY-Z
WHEN:TOUR KICK OFF – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2014
Last night marked the kickoff of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s blockbuster On The Run tour at Miami Gardens (Miami, FL) where the singer wowed fans in custom Diesel outfit changes designed by the brand’s Artistic Director, Nicola Formichetti.
The special garments were conceptualized in line with Formichetti’s energetic FW’14 debut runway collection for Diesel which recently showed in Venice, Italy on April 3rd. The collection’s design aesthetic paired perfectly with this tour’s Bonnie and Clyde story line and overall rebellious spirit – channeling a glamorous game of cops and robbers.
Beyoncé’s custom looks included body conscious denim playsuits made from Diesel’s patented Jogg Jean material, accented with various hand applied hardware and studwork, Swarovski crystal elements and black leather accessories. Diesel’s team hand painted, distressed and embellished each piece using techniques that were exclusively created for Beyoncé based on her specific requests.
Beyoncé and her crew of female backup dancers also wore matching custom metallic striped “jailbait” bodysuits during the performance of the “Run the World (Girls)”. During the performance of “Baby Boy”, her male dance duo, Le Twins, donned complete head to toe off-the-rack Diesel FW’14 looks including patchwork denim jeans, vests, tank tops and accessories. During this song, Beyoncé also sported an off-the-rack FW14 black leather motorcycle jacket personalized with the word “Texas” on the back, representing the singer’s home town pride.
