DIESEL LOVES COURTNEY
Global music star Courtney Love performed along with 1,500 musicians at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence on July 21 as part of That’s Live 2018, a benefit concert by Rockin’1000, the world’s largest rock band.
On stage, Courtney Love worn a customized Diesel dress. The dress was designed to capture and showcase Courtney’s style icon status, taking timeless elegance and clashing it with Courtney’s and Diesel’s worlds. Inspiration was drawn from the relationship between fashion and music culture, paying tribute to Courtney’s famous slip dresses while reinterpreting the mix in a Diesel way. It was made of black Italian silk and transparent chiffon, and was finished with unconventional techniques, like raw-edged diagonal cuts and high splits. Ultimately, it epitomized both Diesel and Courtney.
The first internationally renowned artist to headline a Rockin’1000 show, Love performed two of her biggest hits as frontwoman of the band Hole, “Celebrity Skin” and “Malibu,” plus a special “mystery cover song” accompanied by guitarist Tad Kubler. Rockin’1000’s full set included a total of 18 iconic songs from the annals of rock history.
The concert, organized by Rockin’1000 with support from the Only The Brave Foundation (which helped secure Love’s participation), will benefit San Patrignano, a Rimini-based community and rehabilitation program that welcomes those suffering from drug addiction and marginalization free of charge.
