LIU JO PRESENTS GOLD LABEL collection
Iconic Eighties looks are back once again to seduce us in the modern day. The past contrasts with the present to hold sway over the Liu Jo Gold Label Spring/Summer 2019 Collection, bringing new inspiration. This season’s pieces are bold and striking – as always: constructed shoulders, fine shimmers and slim silhouettes stand out amongst the mix of feminine and attitude. This is all lent some vivacity by the bright colours, that include Blue Block, Plumage Rouge and Red Kyroyal, or the Velvet Peach and Carmine Rose, which are highlighted by Light Gold and toned down by the White Milk or Poudre Rose tones.
The heart of the collection focuses on new jacket-gown models, which recall a little the oriental kimono. They are closed by a side bow and can be easily matched with tonal shorts or cropped trousers: an example of this is the red floral fabric model, a true triumph of modernity and style. Incorporating a surprising mix of materials and pairings, the collection also presents a masculine-cut tuxedo, a suit made up of a bomber jacket + mid-length skirt, and both short and long dresses that combine fluidity, lightness and sensuality.
The Liu Jo Gold Label tuxedo – an undisputable must-have – consists of a two-way stretch fabric bustier to be worn under the jacket and a double-breasted waistcoat-style dress with defined shoulders. The suit, an iconic piece from the brand, presents unexpected pairings. While “classic” black & white forms the basis of the colour palette, this concept has also given life to faux leather garments with metallic accents, sheer tulle detailing and original “top” pieces, such as the bomber jacket or the vibrant feathered jacket that is already promising to become the must-have piece of the whole collection.
Among the “hot” themes of the season is the animal world, Liu Jo’s best selling stylistic feature, which for this season is wagering on a printed python texture. Lace, of course, is also the star – rebrodé and Valencienne. When it comes to prints, however, we can’t overlook the Flower Jungle and multi-coloured micro-striped designs. For cocktails and events, the Liu Jo woman can count on georgette dresses embellished by graceful mini ruffles that are just asking to be paired with a thin waist belt, long dresses in flowing fabrics featuring sheer detailing on the back and the ever-present shirts and blouses in silk and silk blends, which are paired with cashmere blend garments featuring chaton stone embellishment and bejewelled embroidery.
