Replay joins the football world as official sponsor for the next four years of fine clothing and footwear for FC Barcelona, creating both exclusive formal outfits and a smart casual line for the players and staff at Barça.
The partnership between the Catalan club with its worldwide following and the edgy premium denim brand represents for Replay a sensational entry into the realm of tailoring.
Jeanswear culture merges with the most time-honoured formal tradition, and thanks to suits custom made for the Barça team members, denim becomes a high-class fabric used to create contemporary apparel with a sartorial cut.
For official events FC Barcelona players and staff will sport formal outfits: two smooth total looks featuring the colour indigo, in innovative fabrics that reinterpret denim and redefine elegance.
The first consists of a comfort denim sartorial suit in a shade of blue shot with grey. A special surface coating gives the fabric a sleek, glossy appearance. Heightening the impact is a slimfit white shirt in pure cotton.
While denim has its origins in work clothing, the material has evolved significantly through the years, shifting from a casual style to a role in premium apparel. This however is the first time it’s making a statement in a formalwear context.
Likewise featuring a slim fit, the second look consists of a tailor-made suit in a blue pure virgin wool herringbone where a fresh take on the classic fabric provides an up-to-the-minute sense of style.
The two-button blazer with patch pockets features a claret-red lining and a distinctive metallic red letter R for Replay on the lapel.
Under the suit there’s a comfort denim shirt in a medium vintage indigo hue. A regular slim fit makes for a modern work style, while extensive detailing includes small signs of wear&tear, bleach effects, an FCB crest on the breast pocket plus an embroidered red R for Replay.
A pure silk knit tie with the FC Barcelona badge adds the perfect touch.
There are also two coats to go with the suits: a heavy pure wool four-button overcoat with patch pockets, and a contemporary slimfit navy blue trench in doubled pure cotton tech fabric with red rivet R on collar and FC Barcelona crest pin on upper front.
Completing the outfit is a pure cashmere indigo crewneck sweater with genuine leather elbow patches.
Ever true to form, the smart Replay casuals combine quality materials and sophisticated washes to create a line of easywear with an identity that, like Barça, has no equals.
Once again, the recurring theme is the colour indigo. There are three coats/jackets: a slimfit wool blazer with a casualwear feel; a barracuda jacket in technical denim, coated on the inside, with red buttons on cuffs; and a soft check duffel-coat in shades of blue and indigo with beeswax fabric finish. Both outdoor items present an embroidered letter R on the lapel and the FC Barcelona badge on the chest.
Comprising a star element of the casual line are the regular fit four-button Replay Denim Zero° jeans made using an innovative ice crystal treatment: a low-environmental-impact technology offering significant energy savings and a 90% reduction in water consumption. Each denim garment features a leather patch label with an FC Barcelona badge and the Barça official colours, blue and claret, on the front loop.
The shoes too are custom items, totally the Replay Footwear way. For a formal look there’s a pair of oxfords in faded black brushed calfskin, while giving a wonderful plus to the casual style is a brogue shoe in drum-tanned calfskin and suede. As if crafted from denim, the latter – in shades of brown – are machine washed faux-stonewash mode to award both upper and sole an irresistible vintage allure.
Handtooled in Portugal, all the shoes are made from premium materials. Also, they feature rivet trim and topstitching on the upper. The FC Barcelona and Replay logos are printed on the insole and hot-stamped on the bottom.
